How can we save our planet?

We can make simple everyday changes just by being mindful of our lifestyle choices. Here are some simple ways to going green:

1.) The three R's : Reduce, reuse, recycle.

Simply cut down on what you throw away in your garbage can. Yes, emphasis on garbage can.

You can create a compost that you can throw away food remains (egg shells, bananas, orange peels etc.) that will turn into natural fertilizer that you can use to plant a tree or two (hint hint). Next, try to reuse household and clothing items and pretty much anything you can think of. This will reduce the amount of landfill we produce. Also, be mindful of what you throw away versus what needs to be recycled. Many items can be recycled that you don’t even realize.

2.) Conserve water.

Yes, turn the water off when brushing your teeth and take shorter showers. This will reduce the amount of runoff wastewater that end up in our oceans.

3.) Educate

Knowledge is power, and the more you know the better you understand. You can educate yourself about global warming, climate change and how to better impact our planet in several ways. The internet is your obvious source, but even better is volunteering. When volunteering at climate awareness events, you not only educate yourself, but also helping others learn and spread the message of how important saving our planet is.

4.) Make wise buying decisions.

If we made "sustainability" versus "cost" as our main priority when making buying decisions, then mother earth will both thankful and a live a lot longer! So, imagine your entire future generation counted on you to making a conscious buying decision that will allow our planet to continue to be around forever? It’s a no brainer. Shop for less plastic, long lasting light bulbs, and bike more, these are just a few examples.

5.) Plant a tree

Yes! Planting a tree will provide food and oxygen to help save energy and clean air to our planet.

This simple acts will combat climate change and help save our precious earth.
